Maruti Suzuki sales: Since 1983, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (MSIL) has sold 25 mn (2.5 crores) vehicles nationwide, marking a historic milestone. Reaching this sale threshold, Maruti Suzuki becomes the first automaker in India. A total of about 2.1 million units of its CNG and hybrid versions were sold. In December 1983, the automaker unveiled the Maruti 800, its first vehicle. The carmaker now offers 17 models in India, including hybrids, SUVs, hatchbacks, and CNG vehicles.

The Indo-Japanese automaker saw sales of more than 1.5 mn units in 2022, representing a 15% yearly increase. The compact vehicle sector, which includes the Ignis, Swift, Maruti Celerio, Baleno, and WagonR, contributed the majority of sales (55%) to the overall market. The firm sold approximately 2,27,824 entry-level S-Presso and Alto units, along with 3,37,157 units of SUVs and MPVs. Due to supply chain issues, Maruti Suzuki currently has about 4.05 outstanding orders.
Maruti Suzuki’s Future Plans:
The Jimny 5-door off-road SUV and the Fronx small crossover are two new vehicles that the Indo-Japanese carmaker would soon be adding to its inventory of SUV models. Nissan Magnite, Tata Punch, and Renault Kiger will compete against the Maruti Fronx. It will be available in two engine options— a 1.2L naturally aspirated gasoline engine and a 1.0L Boosterjet gasoline engine—and the trims Alpha, Zeta, Delta, Delta+, and Sigma. There will be automatic and manual transmission options available.

The 1.5-L K 15 B gasoline engine, which produces 105 bhp and 134 Nm, will be offered with the Maruti Jimny 5-door SUV. Alpha and Zeta are the two options that will be available. A 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto connectivity and Apple Carplay, a brake limited slip differential, power windows, Isofix child seat anchorages, six airbags, a reversing camera, a rear defogger, a 4-speaker audio system, electrically adjustable wing mirrors, a color MID display, an electronic stability program, seatbelt pre-tensioners, and more are some of its key features.
