Mahindra & Mahindra is considering adding two new variations to the Mahindra SUV vehicle portfolio, which is one of its most successful product lines. A recent claim from the media indicates that the business would launch new variants of the Mahindra Thar 4X2 (also known as 2WD or two-wheel drive) equipped with a 1.5L diesel engine that produces 117 bhp in addition to the present 2.0L petrol engine that produces 200 horsepower. The new oil burner will only be available with a 5-speed manual transmission, which is a feature that will be adopted from the Marazzo MPV.

New Thar price
The Mahindra Thar will be eligible for the GST advantages available for cars less than 4 meters in length since it is equipped with a new 1.5L diesel engine and measures 3985mm. In point of fact, it does not meet the criteria for SUV eligibility set out by the GST council. As a consequence of this, the council has decided to remove it from the SUV category, which will lead to a large reduction in price. It is anticipated that the price of the new entry-level Mahindra Thar 4X2, 1.5L diesel model would be less than Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
As was just reported, the company will also launch the new Thar 2.0L turbo petrol, 2WD form with a 6-speed manual transmission. According to recent reports, the new Mahindra Thar 4X2, which will reportedly be available in dealerships in January 2023, will be powered by new gasoline engines displacing 1.5L and 2.0L. The indigenous car manufacturer has also planned the version of the Thar SUV with 5 doors, which is slated to be introduced on the 26th of January 2023 at the earliest. It is anticipated that its introduction to the market would take place in the latter part of 2023.

The five-door Mahindra Thar will compete against the five-door Force Gurkha and the five-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny when it is finally released to the public. It is anticipated that its pricing would be between Rs 90,000 – Rs 1 lakh more than the three-door variant. The 5-door Thar will feature more length as well as an increased wheelbase.
