Maruti YY8 SUV
Toyota and Maruti Suzuki are collaborating on a brand-new electric SUV for the Indian market. The new electric SUV idea, internally known as the YY8, will be revealed at the 2023 Auto Expo. The electric SUV’s production version is expected to be on sale in January – February 2025. Toyota and Suzuki worked together to design an electric SUV, which would be made at Suzuki’s factory in Gujarat.
The idea will probably be longer than 4.2 metres and have a wheelbase that is 2,700 mm broader than the MG ZS EV. Its design and development are based on Toyota’s 27PL platform, a cost-effective variant of Toyota’s 40PL global platform. The vehicle will have a long wheelbase, which should allow the manufacturer to fit a bigger battery pack and a roomier cabin.
Two battery pack options—a 48 kWh and a 59 kWh—should be available for the Maruti YY8 electric SUV. Under typical test circumstances, the former is predicted to have a range of around 400 km, whilst the latter is predicted to have a range of about 500 km on a single charge. BYD, a Chinese battery provider, will be the company’s source for the LFP blade cell batteries. It will be offered with two-wheel drive and all four wheels.

TATA Punch EV
Before the year is through, Tata Motors plans to introduce the Punch compact SUV in the nation in an all-electric configuration. At the 2023 Auto Expo, it’s anticipated that the Tata Punch EV will be launched. While the market introduction is anticipated for the holiday season, manufacturing of the compact EV is probably going to start in June.
The Tata Punch EV will be built on the GEN 2 (SIGMA) platform, which is essentially an ALFA architectural modification. The Altroz and the Punch are two contemporary ICE-powered models that are supported by this platform. The floor of the SIGMA platform will be level to accommodate a large battery pack. A permanent magnet synchronous motor and battery packs will be included. The 30.2 kWh Nexon EV battery pack and the 26 kWh Tiago EV battery pack could both be available for the small SUV. It is anticipated to have a range of more than 300 kilometres.

KIA EV9
The Korean carmaker Kia has revealed that the prototype EV9 SUV will appear at the 2023 Auto Expo. This model serves as a preview of the company’s upcoming, range-extending flagship electric vehicle. The new EV9 concept measures 4,929 mm in length, 2,055 mm in width, 1,790 mm in height, and has a 3,099 mm wheelbase. It is only a little bit smaller than a Range Rover, which will soon have its own electric version as well.
The Kia EV9 concept is built upon the same modular E-GMP electric vehicle architecture that supports the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6 and Kia EV6. It has the 77.4 kWh biggest lithium-ion polymer battery pack of the EV6. According to the manufacturer, the all-electric SUV has a driving range of up to 483 km (300 miles) on a single charge.
